Insurance
*Megan is only in-network with Aetna and Optum Insurance for Individual Therapy. Couples Therapy is only covered by insurance if medical necessity is present. For typical couples counseling from an EFT approach, Megan cannot bill insurance for services.
*For out-of-network coverage, services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check with your health insurance carrier for information about your out-of-network benefits. You can also utilize a service I am connected with called Mentaya to help with reimbursement for out of network coverage. Please read below for more information from Mentaya:
“Mentaya is a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.
Mentaya is perfect if you:
• Have out-of-network benefits
• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
• Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
• Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!
Here’s how it works:
1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/vPyNVxTfpZk2LDxnXJAG
2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance if you have out-of network coverage! Please make sure you check our coverage…if you have too high of a deductible, for example, you might never reach the threshold for reimburement, even if you are submitting claims for reimbursement.
Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required,
dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.
It’s risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.”
Please check your coverage carefully. Some questions to consider asking insurance to help assess coverage for therapy sessions are noted below:
**Ask for coverage information for in-network benefits and out-of-network benefits
- What are my mental health benefits for oupatient counseling for individual therapy (code 90834) or family/couple therapy (code 90847) for in network providers or for out of network providers?
- Are there any exclusions to my mental health coverage?
- What are my co-pays per session?
- Is there a deductible that I need to meet before any insurance coverage applies, and how much have I met toward my individual deductible and family deductible?
- How many therapy sessions does my plan cover (pending medical necessity)?
- How much does my insurance reimburse for an out-of-network provider, and what information do I need to submit to insurance? How do I submit claims to insurance?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician or any pre-authorization required?
